Zenith Bank Plc made headlines on Tuesday with the announcement of Dr. Adaora Umeoji as its incoming Group Managing Director, slated to assume office on June 1, 2024. Dr. Umeoji’s appointment marks a historic moment as she becomes the first female to ascend to the position of Group Managing Director since the bank’s inception. Taking the reins from the incumbent GMD, Dr. Ebenezer Onyeagwu, whose tenure concludes on May 31, Dr. Umeoji steps into the role with a wealth of experience. Dr. Umeoji’s academic pedigree is equally impressive. A graduate of the prestigious Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Programme and an alumnus of Columbia Business School with a Certificate in the Global Banking Program, she holds multiple degrees from esteemed institutions. Her educational journey includes a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Jos, bachelor’s degrees in accounting and law with first-class honors from Baze University, Abuja, a Master of Laws from the University of Salford, UK, and an MBA from the University of Calabar.

Additionally, she earned a doctorate in business administration from Apollos University, USA, and completed a Certificate in Economics for Business from MIT Sloan School of Management, USA. Dr. Umeoji has further honed her skills through various management programs globally, including the Strategic Thinking and Management program at Wharton Business School, USA.
