Mapoly set to resume as Abiodun pays N480m of staff salaries

Workers of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Ojere, Abeokuta, Ogun state have received N480 million naira to clear their unpaid salaries .

According to a source the state governor , Dapo Abiodun, issued an order on Tuesday mandating the prompt payment of salaries after crediting Mapoly’s account with 480 million naira.

Confirming this, Abiodun Olatunde, Secretary of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Polytechnics at MAPOLY, noted that the strike will be suspended next week  Monday, and the students would write their second semester exam next Month.

He said , “Yes exactly, His Excellency released to the Polytechnic N480m to clear three months’ salary. And that would have addressed, to a great extent, our agitation, and all other issues are internal issues which we are hopeful that the management and council will address immediately.”

“With the agreement we have with the management at the meeting we held yesterday, we concluded that the three months should cover August, September, and October.”

“With the intervention of the state government and in fact as a mark of honor for his kind gesture, we thought that it will be good for us to suspend the strike action, and part of the agreement we reached with them is we are going to try as much as possible to conclude this session this year.”
