@48: Ogun remains one of the most prosperous states – Abiodun

The governor of Ogun state, Dapo Abiodun has said irrespective of various challenges facing the state it has become one of the most prosperous in Nigeria.

Abiodun stated this on Saturday to mark the 48th anniversary of the creation of the state.

Ogun was created in 1976 by the late General Murtala Mohammed.

The state which is renowned for it rich cultural heritage in 2023 battled with various challenges ranging from the killing of the stateโ€™s director of finance, Sagamu cult clashes, incessant rape cases among others.

Governor Abiodun however noted that despite these challenges, the state through efforts of successive administrations have witnessed tremendous development.

In addition to applauding the achievements of his predecessors, Abiodun encouraged the people of the state to maintain their unity in order to further the interests of the state.

“Since its creation on this day in 1976, Ogun State has witnessed tremendous growth and development in various sectors. We have become a thriving hub of industry, education, and culture, creating immense pride in our hearts.

“I want to express my deepest appreciation to all citizens of Ogun State for their unwavering support and dedication to our collective progress. It is through your hard work, resilience, and determination that we have achieved remarkable milestones over the years. Together, we have laid a solid foundation for an even brighter future for our great state.

Abiodun pledged that his administration would uphold the state’s upward growth trajectory by implementing the ‘Building Our Future Together’ theme enshrined in ISEYA.

“As your Governor, I stand here today to assure you of my unwavering commitment to your well-being at all times. My administration remains steadfast in its mission to create an enabling environment that empowers our people and promotes inclusive growth. We will continue to prioritize infrastructure development, education, healthcare, agriculture, and job creation.

“I am proud of the strides we have made thus far, but I am aware that there is still much work to be done. I pledge to work tirelessly to address the challenges facing our state and ensure that every citizen of Ogun State enjoys the fruits of our collective efforts.

“On this occasion, I urge us all to reflect on the values that bind us together as one united and progressive Ogun State. Let us embrace the spirit of unity, support, and collaboration between the government and the people. Together, we can overcome any obstacles and build a future filled with prosperity, opportunities, and happiness for all.
