A lecturer in the School of Languages, Lagos State University of Education (LASUED) Ijanikin, Dr. Salaudeen Munirudeen, has blamed the country’s economy downturn and hardship to individual and societal acts of corruption, dishonesty, and indiscipline.
Munirudeen spoke on Wednesday, while delivering this year’s edition of Ramadan lecture titled, ‘ Islamic Way of Reviving the Economy of Our Country Nigeria’ organised by Muslims faithful from the Ogun State Police Command Headquarters, Eleweran
In his address, he stated that Allah despises cheating, mischief, and corruption, emphasising that where citizens engage in such Allah will allow hardship, famine, and suffering to befall the country, rendering even the best efforts of leaders ineffective in resolving the issues.
The lecturer while urging citizens to shun such corrupt practices cited interest-free economy, almsgiving to empower the poor and disadvantaged, youth employment as potential solutions to the country’s current economic issues.
In his remarks, Amb.(Dr) Adeyemo CEO Pelican Valley Estate Laderin, Abeokuta, Pelican Brief Estate, Pelican’s Ecostay Apartments and Pelican’s Greenish Acre Farm Estate commended the guest lecturer for his timely and insightful lecture noting that it came at a time where the country needs rebirth to bring about the desired prosperity.
The real estate expert pointed out that Pelican Valley, the leading real estate company in Nigeria, has not only been operating with integrity, diligence, and quality delivery in the last 14 years, but has also been able to do so with the help of Almighty Allah without charging clients riba (interest) on any of its properties, regardless of whether they were purchased and paid for in full up front or in installments.
He added that by having 98 percent of its workforce be youth-oriented, the company is supporting the efforts of the federal and state governments to revive the economy through the creation of jobs.
Dr Adeyemo also disclosed that the passion for helping the underprivileged also led him to found the Okó Opó Foundation, a non-governmental organisation that supports widows and other marginalised members of society.
In response, the commissioner of police CP Abiodun Alamutu described commended Adeyemo for being faithful and committed to ensuring that Pelican Valley continues to meet her Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to its host communities, assuring him of police support in the areas of security so that the real estate business can thrive in Ogun State.
“Your integrity is not in doubt, you are a reliable and dependable personality. You have been up and doing fulfilling your Corporate Social Responsibility. We will give you all of our necessary support for the real estate business to thrive.
“You have been a dependable ally of the police and on our part we take note of it that you have been supportive of the Command,” CP Alamutu said.
Shortly after the Ramadan lecture, Adeyemo donated some funds in support of the widows and also a new power generating set for the mosque at the Police Headquarters Eleweran.
The lecture had in attendance the Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alamutu, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), DCP, Bolanle Muritala, Philanthropist Adewale Adesina, Alhaja Kemi Anifowose, the Pelican Valley CEO, Amb.(Dr) Babatunde Adeyemo among others.
