Subsidy Removal: Ogun ACOMORAN gives cash palliative to members

To lessen the impact of the subsidy removal, the Amalgamated Commercial Motorcycle, Tricycle Repairers And Riders Association Of Nigeria (ACOMORAN), Ogun state chapter has given cash to over 200 of its members in the state.

Comrade Kayode Sowunmi, the association’s chairman, while addressing the members at the distribution event held at the ACOMORAN secretariat in Abeokuta, noted that the gestures was necessary due to what Nigerians are going through.

The financial empowerment which cuts over all twenty local governments of the state according to the chairman was the association’s decision to key into the state government’s initiative of the distribution of food palives to Ogun citizens.

The Chairman further underlined that the ACOMORAN is an association that prioritizes the welfare of its members.

“As we are all aware the essence of unionism is the welfare of its members, that is why we are doing this at this particular time when many Nigerians are going through a lot of economic hardship largely occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy by the Federal Government which necessitated government at all levels rolling out palliatives to cushion the effects and ACOMORAN as a well-organized union who does not toy with the welfare of its members, we keyed into this by rolling out cash support to all our branches.

“This gesture we believe would go a long way in ameliorating the biting effect of the subsidy removal of not only our members but the generality of residents of the State. Let me therefore advise the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the funds so that its impact would trickle down to the populace,

“We can’t but continue to build on the legacies of the past chairman of this union in the area of welfare and continue the development of the union in line with the Union’s vision and mission.

Alhaji Rafiu Oseni Okanlawon, the State Coordinator, added that the beneficiaries will benefit greatly from the empowerment and urged them to handle the funds handed to them wisely.

He claimed that AMORAN in Ogun State is unique because it places a greater emphasis on the welfare of its members.

The coordinator also thanked the governor of Ogun State for providing the Association with a favourable operating environment.

The beneficiaries of the monetary empowerment plan thanked the state chairman for the empowerment initiative and promised to work more to raise funds for the organisation.

Other dignitaries present were the Deputy Chairman, Alhaji Muritala Yusuf, General Secretary, Aare Fatai Temidayo, Other executive members, and the members of the Association.
