Ogun NUJ sets up committee on support fund for deceased journalists’ families 

The Ogun State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ)has set up two bodies that will administer the support fund for deceased journalists’ families, which was initiated last year. 

In a letter dated February 8, 2024 and signed by the NUJ Secretary, Bunmi  Adigun, the bodies are; the management committee and the advisory council.

According  to the  letter, a former Chairman of the State Council of  NUJ, and former permanent secretary, Mr. Demola Badejo will chair the management committee that oversee the resources accruable to the fund . 

Other members of the management  committee are a two time  Executive Member of the  the Union and Permanent Secretary in Ogun State, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya as well as  Doyin Jibowo and  Mrs. Doyin Oloruntola of the National Association of Women Journalists, Ogun State Chapter. Other members include the 

NUJ Chairman,  Secretary  and Treasurer.

The Advisory Council which will complement the management  committee, will be chaired by veteran journalist and royal father, Olufemi Ogunleye while other members will include a former chairman of Ogun NUJ, 

Mr Eddie Aina,  former council chairman  and senior media consultant to Governor Dapo Abiodun,  Comrade Tunde Oladunjoye, CEO  of Rockcity FM, Mr Niran Malaolu, radio broadcaster and founder of Women Radio, WFM 97.1, Mrs. Toun Okewale-Sonaya and former presidential spokesman, Mr. Reuben Abati. The NUJ. Chairman will serve as the Secretary of  the advisory council.

The committee will be inaugurated on Thursday, 15th February,  2024 at the Olusegun Osoba Hall, Iwe Iroyin Press Centre, Oke-llewo, Abeokuta by 4pm.
