FG begins reconstruction of roads in Ogun

The federal government has on Wednesday flagged off the reconstruction of roads in Sagamu Local government area of Ogun state.

At the flag-off ceremony which also saw the distribution of 250 solar street lights, the facilitator and member representing Sagamu, Ikenne, Remo North, federal Constituency, Hon. Adewunmi Onanuga noted that the gesture was important to the socio economic development of the senatorial area.

Onanuga maintained that the road reconstruction and electrification are part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vows to alleviate the miseries of the state’s rural residents.

“We intend to make the community feel comfortable and for the convenience of the people. Itโ€™s going to be across Remo, this is just a symbolic one for you to see how the roads look, most of them are really bad. In fact, some of them have been cut into two by erosion and itโ€™s not convenient for the people, they go round longer routes to get to their destination that would have just been a short distance.

“The deadline for the completion of the roads is before the raining season that is why weโ€™re trying to start early, usually when the rain starts itโ€™s hinders a lot of work and I think I want to believe that is why most project don’t get completed.

“The light up is in phases. The first phase is about two hundred and fifty solar lights. We would be giving eight light per wards. Then the second phase is like another five hundred. So, we want to be scaling it up as we go.

“Today, is the flag off. The road is about two kilometer with an existing drainage system.

“You can see there are existing drainages which we are going to maintain to send the water through.
