Stakeholders calls FG for collaboration to combat economic sabotage

Stakeholders in Nigeria have called for a collaboration between civil society and the federal government to counteract “Economic Saboteurs”.

This appeal was made on Tuesday by Youth Bureau, Civil Society Organizations, and Social Economic Stakeholders during an interactive session and deliberation on the state of the nation.

The session convened by Razaq Olokoba, while praising the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration’s economic reform efforts, pointed out that a collaboration was necessary for the successful achievement of goals.

The stakeholders emphasised that the current economic issues facing Nigeria are worldwide phenomena and that it is imperative to involve the civic sphere in order to solidify support for policy reforms and economic re-engineering.

In a communique issued at the end of the meeting, they also urged the the National Orientation Agency (NOA) to launch a large campaign and sensitization against the insatiable yearning for imported luxury products

According to the communique, “the campaign must begin with government officials, politicians and elite to provide leadership towards stemming over-dollarization of the economy.

Meanwhile to address Nigeria’s food crisis and low industrial capacity, state governments were tasked to invest massively in food production.

“ The states governments are called upon to rise to the occasion of Nigeria’s food crisis and low industrial capacity since they own the land according to law, by investing massively in food production and industrialization of the Nigerian economy through policies and programmes in collaboration with the federal government.

“ The organized labour is cautioned to sheathe their recurring threats of resort to strike as a blackmail weapon against the federal government, but rather urged to embrace dialogue and constructive civil engagements like this town hall meeting at all times don’t with both the citizens and the government for a better future for all Nigerians.

The communiqué, on the other hand, applauded the Lagos State government for its commendable policies and activities that have had a great impact on its citizens and urged other states to emulate it in order to create a peaceful and prosperous federal republic of Nigeria.
