The Ogun state commissioner of police, Cp Abiodun Alamutu has said investigations into the murder of the late Director of Finance at the governor’s office, Taiwo Oyekanmi, is now at an advanced stage.
OgunWatch reports that the late accountant was shot on November 29 by a group of armed robbers who ambushed a bullion vehicle attached to him carrying government funds in Abeokuta.
Governor Dapo Abiodun placed a reward of N50m for anyone who had information that could lead to arrest of the killers.
Alamutu gave an update on the incident barely two months the incident.
He spoke while briefing newsmen on the activities of the command in 2023 at the state headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta.
The commissioner described Oyekanmi’s killing as one of the major security issues recorded in the state last year.
He assured that investigation had reached an advanced stage and it will soon be made public.
“ The gruesome murder of Mr Taiwo Oyekanmi, the Director of Finance and Administration, Bureau of Political Affairs Ogun state Governor’s office. Investigation it at the advance stage, and outcome will be made public very soon,” he said.
He added that suspects in the armed robbery and rape of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) students as well as the cult-related murder in Sagamu have also been arrested.
“ Armed robbery/rape of students of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), suspects in connection to this crime have been arrested. Case will soon be charged to court.
“ Cult related murder in Sagamu; tangible number of suspects connected with this crime have equally been arrested and have been charged to court,” the CP said.
