Following the heinous murder of Temitope Elemide in Odeda local government area of Ogun State, the state house of assembly has urged the governor to provide appropriate security equipment to track criminals and strengthen the state’s security network.
The lifeless body of 20 year old, niece of the Speaker last Sunday was seen at her family residence at Bosero community, Olodo, stabbed with a knife on her head and body.
She was said to be preparing for the next Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, before the incident.
Hon. Adegoke Adeyanju during the plenary presided over by Speaker Oludaisi Elemide at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta explained that there was a need to bring together stakeholders in security management including the Security Trust Fund and the private sector in procuring ‘Autel Drone Robotics Evo Max 4T’ to combat insecurities in the state.
Corroborating Adeyanju’s position Honourables Babatunde Tella and Adebisi Oyedele, noted that the issues of kidnapping and ritual killings had become rampant in all parts of the State and needs to be tackled headlong.
They added that solar camera could also be installed in some parts of the State to aid security network.
The debate later led to the motion for the resolution moved by the Majority Leader Yusuf Sheriff, seconded by Hon. Lukmon Atobatele and supported by the Whole House through a unanimous voice vote.
Also at the plenary, the Speaker led other lawmakers to rejoice with the Olu of Itoriland, Oba Abdul-Fatai Akorede Akamo, who was celebrating his 20th coronation anniversary as reported by Hon. Yusuf Amosun, representing Ewekoro State Constituency.
In the same vein, the Speaker equally announced a valedictory plenary in honour of the retiring Clerk/ Head of Legislative Service, Mr. Adedeji Taiwo Adeyemo on Tuesday, 5th of March, 2024.
