The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ogun State command has said not less the 2,740 officers have been deployed across the 71 formation in the state.
This was stated on Saturday by the state commandant, David Ojelabi, in a statement signed by the command’s spokesperson Dyke Ogbonnaya and made available to OgunWatch in Abeokuta, the state capital.
Ojelabi noted that the move which was made to ensure a hitch-free yuletide celebration will be monitored to ensure compliance and professionalism.
According to the statement, the unit deployed are the counter-terrorist unit, special female squad, anti-vandal squad, agro-rangers unit, mines and steel development squad and the intelligence team.
“ The squads deployed are to maintain a peaceful and harmonious yuletide before, during and after the celebration.
“ Other specialized units drafted for this operations include: the anti-human trafficking, irregular migration and gender unit, border patrol team, oil and gas and marine unit, disaster management department, safe school response squad, chemical, biological, radioactive and nuclear unit, ten area commands and 60 divisional offices spanning the nooks and crannies of the Gateway State.
Ojelabi assured residents that enough deployments would be made to mosques, churches, markets, viewing centres, and red spots, among other critical locations around the state.
Meanwhile, he urged all officers and men of the corps to allow commitment, professionalism, vigilance and national interest be their watchword above all things.
