Two killed in Ogun cult clash

Two persons have been reportedly killed on Sunday in a cult clash in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital.

The victims, allegedly members of the Eiye and Aye confraternity groups were reported to have been shot dead in different areas of the state.

It was gathered that the killing was a retaliation to the death of Olumide Ifeoluwa, a popular area boy and a member of the Aye confraternity, who was shot dead by suspected members of eiye cult group three weeks ago.

The first victim, a suspected member of eiye cult group was shot dead at Alogi junction in Obantoko area of Abeokuta, while the second victim, a member of Aye confraternity group who was identified as Timo Olukayode was shot and his head was also smashed with a stone at Bode-Olude.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident to our correspondent, adding that the body of Olukayode was deposited at the State Hospitalโ€™s morgue in the Ijaiye area of the state.

She said, โ€œAt about 1300hrs, the DPO received information from members of the public that an unknown man was being chased by a group of thugs who were suspected to be cultists. He was chased to the Dopamu backstreet via Bode Olude to Miliki intersection down to Elega.

โ€œA police team led by DPO Adatan and DPO Elega visited the scene and encountered the lifeless body of a young man in a pool of his blood, his head broken with a stone. Police intervened immediately and evacuated his body to the Ijaiye Hospital mortuary.โ€

She added that the stateโ€™s Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alamutu, had ordered a probe into the incident while a manhunt has been launched for the perpetrators of the act.

โ€œThe Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alamutu, has ordered that a discreet investigation be carried out on the incident and the perpetrators be brought to book.
