Hon. Abosede Adeyemi was announced the winner of the just concluded councillorship bye-election in Ilado Ward 10, Odogbolu local government area of Ogun state with a total of 939 votes cast.
The by-election was held by the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC), to fill the Councillorship post that had become open following the passing of Hon. Olufemi Taiwo, the previous Councillor.
Seven polling places were used for the exercise: the Ilado Social Club in Sibadewa Ilado; St. Luke Primary School in Imodi Ijasi; Odosenlu Market in Odosenlu; Open Space at Aba Tiwa Aba Soobo; Open Space Akio; Town Hall in Imodi Ijasi; and the Ilado Social Club, all located in Ward 10 of the Council Area.
Following the declaration of the winner, Mr. Babatunde Osibodu, chairman of the OGSIEC, expressed his satisfaction with the electoral umpire’s results and credited the commission for their proper preparation and due process before the by-election.
The newly elected Councillor, Hon. Abosede Adeyemi was also congratulated by Mrs. Gbemi Onasanya, the chairman, who was represented by one of the commissioners for winning the by-election.
A member of the House of Representatives from Odogbolu, Ijebu-Ode, and Ijebu North-East Local government area, Hon. Femi Ogunbanwo, commended OGSIEC for a job well done in his contribution. He said that the election process went smoothly and that a large number of voters turned out to exercise their right to vote.
In addition, he praised the newly elected council member and urged her to view her success as a call to service rather than self-interest.
Following the exercise, Hon. Shuaib Ladejobi, chairman of the Odogbolu local government, stated that ” the election was highly commendable, the process was hitch-free and voters turned out in their numbers to vote”.
The APC’s local government chairman, Hon. Muyiwa Idowu, praised OGSIEC for holding a free and fair poll and congratulated all party chieftains on winning the Ilado Ward10 by-election.
