Workers Day: Pelican Valley donates souvenir to Ogun NUJ

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Pelican Valley Nigeria Limited, Dr. Babatunde Adeyemo has presented branded Workers Day Souvenir to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun state Council.

Receiving the items, the Secretary of the Council, Comrade Bunmi Adigun appreciated the kind gesture, saying that the souvenir will further stand members of the union out at the workers day parade.

Adigun appreciated the laudable achievements of the Pelican Boss in ameliorating the sufferings of widows in the society, while calling for inclusion of NUJ veterans who have retired from the profession without anything to fall back to.

“We appreciate you for this kind gesture. We are watching you closely, knowing that your primary office which is journalism, you never said you are tired of us.

“We have been seeing your efforts in the society, and this is another one you have extended towards your own people. 

“We want to assure you that we will deliver one of this to the governor on the day and we know he will also be appreciative of you. 

“This will definitely make our outing at the workers day parade a memorable one. 

“We however wish that you would also partner with us to assist our veterans. Those who are retired but not tired, need us around them. 

“So, on behalf of the number one journalist in Ogun state, Comrade Wale Olarenwaju, I want to say thank you so much”, he said.

Responding, Dr. Adeyemo lauded the giant stride of the Wale Olarenwaju led exco in revamping and changing the face of the Iwe Iroyin secretariate, saying that as partners in progress, he will continue to extend his hands of fellowship to see to the continues growth of the Union. 

He added that his foundation will also partner with the NUJ in providing succor for veterans and members of the council who are in deer need. 

” Am really delighted to be part of NUJ family and I want to assure you that this is just the beginning. As long as Pelican grows, we will continue to impact journalists, not only in ogun state, but the country as a whole.

“I also want to commend the new administration of the NUJ, you have been so steadfast and creative. 

“I leart that there was a committee just set up by the Union to cater for the family of deceased journalist and this is in line with what we do at the Oko Opo Foundation. 

“We therefore look forward to meeting the committee, in order to partner with them in reaching out to our people”, he added.
