EFCC operatives disobeying Chairman Olukayode, carry out midnight raid in FUTA

In a reported midnight operation at the Federal University of Technology, Akure, men suspected to be operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) allegedly invaded students’ lodges around 2 am.

Social media posts by students claim that the men forcibly entered rooms and made arrests, with videos depicting broken window frames as evidence of the alleged forced entry.

Expressing concern on social media, one user mentioned, “EFCC (officials) moving like thieves at night!”

The incident occurred despite the EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede’s directive in November to cease sting operations at night, following a controversial arrest of suspected internet fraudsters in Ile-Ife, Osun State.

Videos circulating online reveal a person wearing an EFCC jacket, adding to the controversy.

When contacted, the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, deferred response, requesting a call back in 20 minutes.

However, as of the time of this publication, subsequent attempts to reach Oyewale have been unsuccessful.
