President Tinubu’s student loan scheme to launch in January 2024

President Tinubu declared that the eagerly awaited student loan scheme, which he approved on June 12, 2023, is scheduled to kick off in January 2024.

The scheme, president Tinubu’s government believes will put an end to episodes of strikes by academic staff unions in tertiary institutions.

The scheme aims to provide financial support to students, ensuring that they can pursue their academic aspirations without the disruptions that have plagued the state’s educational system in the past.

Each student is expected to receive a student loan of N500,000. The administration has outlined plans to administer this scheme through the Central Bank of Nigeria, in collaboration with relevant agencies under the Ministry of Education, and with oversight from the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila.

Ogunwatch will continue to closely monitor developments related to the January 2024 launch of the student loan scheme, providing ongoing coverage and insights into this transformative development for Ogun State’s education sector.
