Don Jazzy, D’Banj reconcile after 12-year rift in new video

Celebrated Nigerian music producer, Michael Collins Ajereh, famously known as Don Jazzy, and renowned veteran singer, Daniel Oyebanjo, better known as D’Banj, have seemingly put their 12-year feud to rest.

In a video that quickly went viral after being posted on Instagram by D’Banj, the duo, Don Jazzy and D’Banj, were captured embracing warmly and exchanging pleasantries. The video, which also served as a promotional piece for D’Banj’s latest single, ‘Since 04,’ hinted at a nostalgic tribute to the now-defunct Mo Hit Records, a record label they co-founded and where they both held significant stakes.

The gesture was not only a reconciliation between the two music giants but also a nod to the milestone birthday celebration of comedian and social media influencer, Debo Adebayo, popularly known as Mr Macaroni. D’Banj, in his caption for the video, expressed his gratitude and well wishes to Mr Macaroni, while also acknowledging Don Jazzy’s significant role in the moment, playfully praising his dance moves.

This heartwarming display comes on the heels of D’Banj’s earlier Instagram post, where he shared pictures with Don Jazzy, reaffirming their bond as “brothers for life.” The post, which served as a prelude to the release of ‘Since 04,’ was accompanied by words of appreciation for Don Jazzy’s unwavering support and prayers since their journey together began in 2004.

Mo Hit Records, established in 2004 by Don Jazzy and D’Banj, once reigned supreme in the Nigerian music industry, boasting a roster of talented artists including Dr. Sid, Wande Coal, and others. However, the label faced turbulence in 2012, leading to the eventual split of the dynamic duo.

Following the breakup, Don Jazzy went on to establish Mavin Records, where he nurtured talents like Korede Bello, Di’Ja, and Reekado Banks, among others. On the other hand, D’Banj pursued international collaborations, signing with Kanye West’s “Good Music” and founding DB Records, where he ventured into artist management with acts like Tonto Dikeh and his brother, K-Switch.

The reconciliation between Don Jazzy and D’Banj marks not only a personal milestone but also a significant moment in Nigerian music history, reigniting hope for fans and industry insiders alike.
