NDLEA explains Lekki stop-and-search operations

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has provided clarification regarding the deployment of its personnel to Admiralty Way in Lekki, Lagos State.

In response to a query raised by comedian Bright Okpocha, also known as Basketmouth, on Saturday, the agency explained that the stop-and-search operation aimed to “safeguard local residents from the activities of drug dealers and disrupt the illicit substance supply chain.”

Late on Friday, the comedian had tweeted, “Are you aware of the ongoing stop-and-search operation being conducted by your officers on Admiralty Way in Lekki? #ndlea_nigeria.”
