N50 million bounty placed on 2 terrorists in Katsina

In a bid to address the escalating issue of terrorism, the Katsina State Police Command has announced a N50 million reward for anyone providing crucial information leading to the arrest of two notorious terrorists, Usman Modi Modi and Jan Kare, currently operating in the state. Katsina has been significantly affected by terrorism, commonly referred to as banditry, and the police are intensifying efforts to curb the activities of these criminal elements.

Abubakar-Sadik Aliyu, the spokesperson for the Katsina State Police Command, conveyed this information in a statement to reporters. He emphasized the collective responsibility in ensuring justice and security prevail. The notorious terrorists, Modi Modi and Jan Kare, are known to operate primarily around Kankara and Safana, two local government areas in the state identified as particularly vulnerable to their activities.

Aliyu stated, “This reward serves as a testament to our dedication to ensuring justice prevails, as the issue of security is a collective responsibility.”

Several communities in Batsari, Kurfi, Kankara, Bakori, and Faskari have recently endured attacks by terrorists, causing distress among the residents. The situation reached a tipping point on Friday when affected community members staged a protest, blocking the Dutsin Ma-Katsina highway for several hours to draw attention to their plight.

“The initiative aims to enhance security operations in our dear state and combat the activities of these criminal elements. The identity of the informant and the information provided will be kept strictly confidential to ensure their safety and protection,” the police statement noted.

Individuals with information on the whereabouts and activities of the terrorists are encouraged to approach the Katsina command headquarters, visit the nearest police station, or call the designated hotlines, 07015142112 and 08023871144.

This initiative is not the first time the Katsina Police Command has employed such measures. In 2019, the then Police Commissioner, Sanusi Buba, announced a N5 million bounty for information leading to the arrest of Ado Aleiro, another terror kingpin. Aleiro was implicated in leading an attack on the Kadisau Community in Faski Local Government Area, resulting in the tragic loss of 52 lives. Notably, three years after the bounty was placed, Aleiro was turbaned as the Sarkin Fulanin Yandoto, Ogunwatch learned.
