Federal communication ministry train 40 Ogun artisans on digital use

In a bid to combat unemployment in Nigeria, 40 artisans from Ogun State have undergone specialized digital skills training.

The Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, in partnership with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), conducted a five-day training program for youths hailing from the six local governments in Ogun Central. This event took place at Senator Shuaib Afolabi’s campaign office in Olorunsogo, Abeokuta.

NITDA, acting on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, revealed that similar training initiatives were rolled out in Ogun, Oyo, Kano, Kaduna, Abia, and Jigawa.

Kashifu Abdullahi, Director General of NITDA, represented by Mohammed Abdulraheem, the project coordinator for Ogun State, announced that all participants were provided with laptop computers and essential training materials. He also highlighted the plan to conduct post-program evaluations to monitor each student’s progress.

Idris Faruq, the training’s team facilitator, stressed that participants received guidance on leveraging the internet to enhance their respective businesses.

He remarked, “Participants learned how to utilize the internet to bolster their businesses and services, emphasizing the crucial role of accessing relevant information.”

OgunWatch interviewed one of the participants, Showunmi Oluwafemi, a photographer, who expressed gratitude to the organizers and encouraged them to persevere.

Another participant, Adeyemi Abigail, a student, emphasized the training’s significance and extended her thanks to the organizers. She shared her aspirations: “I intend to gain valuable skills, especially given the current state of the country. My goal is to establish an institution where I can also train students. I am truly thankful to the organizers, and I pray for their continued success.””
