Tragedy struck Ogun State on Monday as three separate accidents claimed the lives of six individuals and left 20 others with various injuries. According to a statement from Florence Okpe, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), 26 people managed to escape unhurt from the incidents.
The first accident occurred at Fidiwo along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway around 3:40 am. It involved a Toyota bus with registration number GBJ915XA and a Golf car without a registration number. Regrettably, two lives were lost in this crash, and two individuals sustained injuries. The causes were attributed to wrongful overtaking, excessive speed, and loss of vehicle control.
Moving on, the second incident unfolded around 5:18 am on the Ijebu-Ode-Ore-Benin Expressway after Ajede junction. A Toyota bus with registration number RBC213XT was involved, resulting in injuries to 17 people and the loss of three lives. The statement cited speed and fatigue as likely factors contributing to this tragedy.
Similarly, the third accident occurred approximately at 2:00 am along the Ijebu-Ode-Ore-Benin Expressway after the Ajebamidele Bridge. A luxury bus bound for the southeast collided with an IVECO truck, which was reportedly parked incorrectly. Among the 29 individuals involved, one lost their life, and two were injured. Notably, 26 passengers emerged from this incident unscathed.
