Nigerian music icon 2Baba splits from longtime manager

For two decades, the Nigerian music scene witnessed a powerful partnership blossom between legendary musician Innocent Idibia, known by his stage name 2Baba, and his manager, Efe Omorogbe, the CEO of Now Muzik. Their journey, however, took an unexpected turn on Wednesday, leaving fans with a bittersweet symphony of achievements and farewells.

The news, delivered through a joint statement on Now Muzik’s Instagram, resonated with a simple yet profound message: a mutual agreement to part ways, effective immediately. The undercurrent, however, flowed with heartfelt appreciation.

Omorogbe, his voice laced with respect and a touch of melancholy, acknowledged the extraordinary bond they shared. He wasn’t just praising a collaborator; he was recognizing a friend and a fellow architect of musical magic. “2Baba is one of the greatest Nigerian musicians of all time,” he declared, his words echoing the immense respect he held for the artist.

2Baba, reciprocating the sentiment, painted a picture of unwavering support. “I owe a lot of my career success to Efe and his team at Now Muzik,” he confessed, recognizing the significant role they played in shaping his musical legacy. He continued, “Everything I’ve been able to achieve is a result of the support of so many people and organizations,” his words acknowledging the collaborative nature of success in the industry.

Their story began in 2004, when 2Baba, then at a crossroads after leaving The Plantashun Boiz, found a guiding hand in Now Muzik. Together, they embarked on a journey that not only redefined 2Baba’s career but also left an indelible mark on the African entertainment scene.

As the final notes of their collaboration fade, a new melody beckons. 2Baba sets sail with a new management team, Hypertek Digital, ready to explore uncharted territories. While the future remains unwritten, one thing is certain: the music they created together will continue to resonate, a testament to a partnership that bloomed, thrived, and gracefully reached its conclusion.
