In a turn of events, Senator Gbenga Daniel’s son, Adebola has taken to social media to call out a KFC outlet at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport for discriminatory behavior.
The senator’s son, who is a frequent traveler and familiar face at the airport, recounted an unfortunate incident where he and his companions were denied entry into the KFC outlet on the basis of his wheelchair.
According to Adebola Daniel’s account on social media, he and his travel companions, including family members, were about to settle down for a meal at the KFC outlet when they were abruptly stopped by the manager, who loudly declared, “NO WHEELCHAIRS ALLOWED.”
Expressing his disappointment, Adebola stated, “I arrived at the airport as normal for my Virgin Atlantic flight to London. I’m a frequent flyer and I’m extremely familiar with all due processes at Murtala Muhammed Airport.” He continued, “Today I chose KFC – what a colossal mistake.”
In response to the incident, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) swiftly intervened, leading to the closure of the KFC facility at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport with immediate effect, starting March 28, 2024.
Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, the MD/CE of FAAN, emphasized FAAN’s commitment to ensuring the rights of every passenger. She stated, “FAAN uses this medium to express our unreserved apology to the affected Passenger with Reduced Mobility and assures all airport users that we shall continue to work tirelessly to ensure that the rights of every passenger are not infringed upon.”
