Djokovic beats Alcaraz, sets up ATP Finals, final against unbeaten Sinner in Turin

Novak Djokovic is on the brink of securing a historic seventh ATP Finals title, having advanced to the final by defeating Carlos Alcaraz in straight sets. Despite Alcaraz’s efforts, including four missed break point opportunities, Djokovic secured his place in the final.

Djokovic, who previously claimed ATP Finals victories in 2008, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2022, is now tied with Roger Federer for six titles. The Serb’s opponent in the final will be Jannik Sinner, the 22-year-old Italian who became the first from his country to reach the title match in ATP Finals history. Sinner’s impressive 4-0 record during the week includes a notable three-set win over Djokovic in the round-robin phase, marking his first-ever victory against the 24-time Grand Slam champion.

In the other semi-final clash, Jannik Sinner faced 2020 champion Daniil Medvedev. Sinner emerged victorious with a 6-3, 6-7 (4-7), 6-1 win, securing his spot in the final and making history as the first Italian to reach this stage of the ATP Finals. Medvedev, aiming for his 10th final appearance of the season, had an early opportunity to break Sinner’s serve but was unable to capitalize on it. Sinner, in turn, demonstrated resilience, eventually securing a decisive break and maintaining his serve for the remainder of the set.
