Attack on Remo Stars players as home team, Plateau United suffer loss

Youths likely to be fans of the Nigerian football club, Plateau United attacked footballers of adversary, Remo Stars, after their home team lost to the visiting team.

After losing to the visiting team at the New Stadium in Jos, youths suspected to be fans of the Plateau United, attacked the Remo Stars team.

The match which was held on Sunday at the new stadium in Jos ended in a score of 2:1, favoring the visiting team despite Plateau Unitedโ€™s Saidu opening the scoring sheet at 69th minute.

After Plateau United had taken the lead, Remo Stars’ coach made a substitution in the 78th minute, a move which turned the direction of the game in their favour.

In the 80th minute, Adams Olamilekan leveled the score with a ballistic display of skillful play which confused two Plateau United defenders and the goal keeper.

In the 87th minute, Olamilekan Adedayo scored the goal that sealed the match for the Remo Stars Team.

However, the result of the match which didn’t favour the home team turned the stadium into a scene of chaos as fans loyal to Plateau United went on rampage, attacking players of the visiting team.

Recounting the experience to OgunWatch in a very dark dressing room and under tension, the Head Coach of Remo Stars, Daniel Ogunmodede expressed a mixed feeling of excitement and fear as the game ended in their favour.

โ€œThis is the dressing room and we had to rush in here because the Plateau United fans were about to attack us.

โ€œ It was a good match we came here for winning and we won and irrespective of the attack i feel excited, at first they scored they played with beautiful style but at the end it was a victory for usโ€.

Also speaking, Nduka Junior the teamโ€™s captain expressed his excitement about the result of the game, noting that it was a better outcome compared to their last outing.

โ€œ I am really excited the last time we came here against Nasarawa United we were embarrassed and with that we changed our mindset and said to ourselves that what happened previously must not happen again and we did well this time.

โ€œTrue they were throwing bottle waters and all sort of things we had to rush down to our dressing room but it is a big goal for us so we feel excitedโ€ he concluded.

With 30 points, Remo Stars currently sits on the 3rd spot of the Nigeria Professional Football League while Plateau United with 25 points stand on the 5th spot.
