Barca, Spurs clash over Ndidi

Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, currently with Leicester City in the Championship, is at the center of a potential high-profile transfer. Reports from PUNCH Sports Extra indicate that Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur are gearing up for a summer battle to secure Ndidi’s services, as his contract with Leicester extends until the end of the season.

Ndidi’s future at Leicester hinges on the team’s performance under manager Maresca, with the possibility of renewal depending on their bid for a return to the Premier League. Despite speculations last season after Leicester’s relegation, Ndidi opted to stay, distinguishing himself with notable contributions, including three goals and four assists in 15 appearances this season.

Barcelona, amidst financial challenges, eyes Ndidi as a potential free transfer, a strategy the La Liga giants have employed in recent seasons. The Bosman ruling allows Barcelona to engage in contract negotiations with Ndidi in January, paving the way for a free transfer in the subsequent summer.

However, Tottenham, led by manager Ange Postecoglou, is not conceding the race for Ndidi. Expressing dissatisfaction with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in his system, Postecoglou is reportedly keen on bringing Ndidi to the Spurs when his contract concludes next summer, intensifying the competition for the midfielder’s signature.

The interest in Ndidi extends beyond Barcelona and Tottenham, with Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, and Juventus also closely monitoring the 26-year-old’s contract situation. These clubs, having inquired about Ndidi’s availability over the summer, continue to explore the prospect of securing the talented midfielder on a free transfer. The unfolding saga positions Ndidi as a sought-after player in the upcoming transfer market.
