Promote Nigerian-made vehicles, Ogun indigene to Senator Yayi

Following the National Assembly’s decision to import 360 Special Utility Vehicles, SUVs estimated at N57.6 billion for Senators and Members of the House of Representatives, Some Nigerians have frowned at the decision.

A concerned citizen and indigene of Ogun West senatorial district has urged the senators to rather go for locally made vehicles such as NORD and INNOSON.

The citizen with the thread handle @real stainless on Friday made the appeal in an open letter to Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi who represents Ogun West Senatorial District on thread.

He emphasized that patronizing  Nigerian manufacturers will help in promoting the growth and development of our local industries.

“ I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. I am writing to you as a concerned and patriotic citizen of Nigeria and Indigene of Ogun West been the Constituency you are Currently representing at the Nigerian Senate,

to express my deep concerns regarding the proposed plan by the Federal House of Assembly ‘’(_Despite the Economic Hardship of the country ATM)_’’ to purchase foreign SUVs for official use.

“ I kindly request your attention to this matter and urge you to reconsider this decision or your support for this move (if there is any), Perhaps opting for locally made vehicles such as NORD and INNOSON etc, would have been understandable.

“ Firstly, I want to emphasize the importance of promoting the growth and development of our local industries. By supporting Nigerian manufacturers like NORD @nordmotion and INNOSON @innosonvehicles among others, we can contribute to the expansion of our economy, provide employment opportunities for our fellow citizens, and boost our national pride. The purchase of locally made vehicles will not only showcase our confidence in indigenous industries but also serve as an encouragement for further technological advancements, fostering future innovation and growth.

“ Moreover, investing in local production has multiple economic benefits. By purchasing vehicles manufactured in Nigeria, we can reduce our dependency on foreign imports, save valuable foreign exchange, and control our nation’s trade deficit.

“This will have a positive long-term effect on our economy, ensuring stability and creating a sustainable future for the country.

Additionally, it is essential to consider the environmental impact of such a decision. Locally produced vehicles are more likely to comply withstringent emission standards and prioritize sustainability. By choosing Nigerian-made vehicles, we can contribute to reducing our carbon footprint and protecting our environment, aligning our goals with global initiatives to combat climate change.

“ Furthermore, the Nigerian automotive industry has made significant strides in recent years, focusing on research, development, and quality control. This has resulted in the production of vehicles that not only meet international standards but also offer competitive features and safety measures. Nord and INNOSON are prime examples of local manufacturers capable of meeting the requirements of our legislators while providing cost-effective and reliable transportation solutions.

“ As your constituent and a concerned Nigerian, I kindly request that you use your esteemed position and influence to champion the cause for locally produced vehicles within the Nigeria House of Assembly. I implore you to engage with your fellow legislators, advocate for the adoption of Nigerian-made vehicles, and ensure that our tax revenue is utilized to empower our domestic industries and promote national development.

“ Moreover, I would greatly appreciate it if you could provide updates on the progress of this matter and any actions you have taken as a result of this appeal. Regular communication with your constituents is the cornerstone of a transparent and accountable democracy, and I believe this issue holds significant importance for the people you represent.

“ Thank you for taking the time to consider my concerns.I trust in your wisdom and commitment to the betterment of our great nation.I am confident that by choosing to support locally made vehicles,we can build a stronger economy, preserve the environment, and foster national pride.

“ Please feel free to contact me at your convenience if you require further information.I look forward to the positive impact that your actions on this issue will have on the future of our great country.

Yours faithfully,
