Cultism : Three rival members macheted to death, left hands cut off in Ogun

Three suspected cultist have been macheted to death at Abibatu Toronbi Community in Ijoko, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State.

According to the police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, a leader of the community had reported at the Ijoko Police Post that on October 13, 2023, “three unidentified young men were found macheted to death in an abandoned building/criminal hideout within their community.”

Odutola revealed that in the information, policemen arrived the scene and observed that the deceased left hands were cut off.

She added that the police had identified two of the deceased: Memory and Rilwan. Rilwan according to her was “a suspected cultist of the Eiye Confraternity group, who had been on the police lookout for several crimes.”

She stated that the bodies were evacuated and put at the mortuary for further investigation, and that the area is being closely monitored. 

Odutola stated that after conducting investigations into the deaths with the help of local informants, the police have identified “the Number One Eiye Confraternity as members of a rival cult group.”

Odutola added that efforts are being made to obtain additional information about the cult organisations’ activities and their links to other criminal crimes in the area. 

“The police are committed to bringing all perpetrators involved in cultism and related crimes to justice, ensuring the safety and security of the community,” she stated.
