55,673 votes recorded as OOU Students elect new Students’ Union President

In a recent development at Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), a total of 55,673 votes were cast as students participated in the election of their new Students’ Union President.Ogunsanya Bamidele Peter, a fourth-year student majoring in Biology Education and widely recognized as Senator Pizzle, has emerged as the freshly elected President of the OOU Student Union Government (SUG).

Following a highly competitive campaign period and a presidential debate, Senator Pizzle clinched victory in the SUG presidential race. Senator Pizzle, a Biology Education major in his fourth year, secured a total of 2,418 votes, surpassing his closest rival, Senator Ganiu, who garnered 1,857 votes.

The sudden resignation of Enzaim just hours before the election added an unexpected twist to the proceedings. The SUG elections boasted an impressive voter turnout, resulting in the recording of 55,673 votes in total.

With the newly elected SUG Executive now in place, they face the vital responsibility of delivering on the promises made during their campaigns. The elected president will shoulder the task of representing the student body, advocating for their interests, and instigating positive changes on campus. Despite the challenges that lie ahead, the student community remains hopeful that their newly elected leader will honor their commitments.

In addition to the SUG presidency, numerous other positions were filled through the election. The list of elected candidates includes Quadri Taofeek as Vice-President 1, Oladipo Okuwatobiloba as Vice-President 2, Marvellous Ogunro as Vice-President 3, Olabode Hammed as Vice-President 4, Adenuga Samuel as General Secretary, Fasanya Nofisat as Financial Secretary, Odufowoke Morayogba as Assistant General Secretary 1, Ibrahim Okuwatobi as Assistant General Secretary 2, Balogun Abdulafeez as Assistant General Secretary 3, Olayera as Assistant General Secretary 4, Ayinla Victor as Legal Director, Adeleke Abdulmuiz Adepegba as Welfare Director, Adepeju Adeboye Adesegun as Social Director, Adewusi Damilare as Sports Director, Ojo Mercy Babatunde as P.R.O., and Bakare Falilat as Medical Director.

These individuals will play pivotal roles in the student government, contributing significantly to the overall development and welfare of the student community.
