The late monarch, Olubadan Balogun, peacefully transitioned late Thursday evening at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, leaving behind a legacy that Governor Makinde described as leaving “indelible marks on the sands of history” and achieving remarkable feats within a relatively short reign.
Governor Makinde lauded Oba Dr. Balogun as an embodiment of royal excellence and a visionary leader who had significantly impacted Ibadanland during his brief tenure of just over two years. He extended his condolences to the Olubadan-in-Council, the Oyo State Traditional Council, and the entire populace of Ibadanland and Oyo State. The Governor offered prayers for the peaceful repose of the departed monarch’s soul.
With solemn respect for the divine will, Governor Makinde officially announced the passing of “His Imperial Majesty, Oba Dr. Mohood Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland.” He described the late Olubadan as a towering figure in Ibadan’s history, noting that his demise marked the departure of a significant luminary.
“In Kabiyesi, Ibadanland had a cosmopolitan and well-experienced Olubadan, who made indelible marks on the sands of history and achieved greatly within a short while,” Governor Makinde remarked.
