In a distressing incident, a yet-to-be-identified adult female was discovered lifeless in a hotel located in Morogbo, within the Badagry area of Lagos State, according to information gathered by OgunWatch News.
The tragic occurrence unfolded on Friday, November 31, when the deceased, accompanied by an unidentified male companion, checked into the hotel. Sources who spoke to The Punch, reveal that both guests arrived in the morning, promptly settling payment for a brief stay.
As the day progressed, the hotel’s receptionist, preparing to allocate the room to another customer, encountered an unexpected obstacle when they found the room locked. Subsequent attempts to gain entry were futile, prompting the use of a spare key. To their shock, the lifeless body of the female guest was discovered on the bed, unclothed, and covered with a bedspread. Additionally, her belongings, including clothes and phone, were reported missing.
An anonymous resident in the community shared insights into the sequence of events, stating, “The two guests arrived at the hotel in the morning. After paying, they collected the key to their room and went inside. It was later around 10 pm when the hotel attendant wanted to give the room to another customer that they started to look for the key to the room.”
The resident continued, “When they got there, they discovered it was locked. They also knocked but no one answered. They later banged on the door yet no one answered. They had to get a spare key, and when the door was opened, only the female guest was found lying naked on the bed. Her body was covered with a bedspread. It was also discovered that her clothes and phone were taken away.”
Upon making the unsettling discovery, the hotel owner was promptly notified, and a search for the male guest ensued. Unfortunately, the search proved fruitless as no record had been taken by the receptionist during their initial check-in, complicating efforts to locate the individual.
The incident was reported to the police on the same night by the hotel director. The police arrived, documented the scene with photographs, and subsequently transported the deceased’s body to the morgue. Notably, the absence of CCTV cameras in the hotel further hindered the investigation.
Confirming the incident, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, stated, “The corpse has been deposited in the morgue. The owner of the hotel has been arrested along with the receptionist. The case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department.”
