We have made arrests, Ogun police responds to death of OOU student

In a distressing turn of events, Oluwatosin Onadipe, a Computer Science graduate from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, met a tragic end after allegedly being hit with an iron rod by an official of a motor park in Ago, Odogbolu Local Government Area of the state. The incident unfolded as Oluwatosin was reportedly engaged in preaching on the park premises.

Ogunwatch reported that Oluwatosin’s body was later found dumped by the roadside, and shockingly, it was buried by officials of the Odogbolu Local Government Area after being left there by the police. The circumstances surrounding his death have prompted an outcry from his family, demanding justice for their lost son.

According to Raymond Onadipe, the grieving father, Oluwatosin had left home on December 17 to attend a program at the Redemption Camp but became unreachable after speaking with his brother on the phone. Concerned by his absence, a missing person report was filed at the Ago Police Station.

Days later, a call was received from an individual claiming to have found Oluwatosin’s phone on the roadside. Suspicion arose when the pick-up location, Ode-Remo, seemed distant from Ago. Upon investigation, it was revealed that Oluwatosin’s body had been buried along the roadside by health workers from Odogbolu Local Government Area.

The father recounted his ordeal in seeking justice, stating that the situation took a perplexing turn when an eyewitness alleged that Oluwatosin was hit by a motor park official while preaching on the park premises. The police initially denied picking him up, but photographic evidence contradicted their claim, showing bloodstains on his body.

Raymond Onadipe appealed to the police authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice, emphasizing the need for answers surrounding his son’s mysterious death. Confirming the incident, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alamutu, assured that the suspects involved had been taken into custody, and a preliminary investigation was underway to unravel the circumstances leading to Oluwatosin’s tragic demise.

“The incident happened. The person alleged to have hit him with an iron rod and the police officers allegedly involved have been taken into custody. We are conducting a preliminary investigation into the reported position of the family. We will come up with a statement on the issue in the next few days,” stated CP Abiodun Alamutu.
