VARSH demands justice for 12-year-old girl severely abused by father in Mowe

In a harrowing case that has sent shockwaves through the Mowe Ibafo area of Ogun State, a 12-year-old girl identified as Princess Akor has been subjected to unspeakable abuse by her own father.

The shocking incident, which unfolded on Saturday, 23rd of September, 2023, has drawn the attention of the VARSH Foundation, an organization dedicated to child protection and welfare.

Reports reveal that Princess Akor has endured a nightmarish ordeal, enduring physical beatings and, most horrifyingly, being scalded with boiling water.

The reasons for these abhorrent actions remain unknown. The abuse has inflicted second-degree burns, visible cane marks, and severe psychological trauma upon the young girl.

Complicating matters further, Princess Akor’s parents are divorced, with custody granted to her father. It is within this custody arrangement that these terrible events unfolded, raising pressing questions about the mechanisms in place to safeguard children in similar situations.

VARSH Foundation swiftly stepped into action when informed of this distressing situation. The organization, known for its dedication to child welfare, immediately reported the case to the Human Rights Commission in Oke-Ilewo.

Thanks to their prompt response, the Commissioner of Police has ordered a thorough investigation, and the alleged perpetrator is set to face charges in court on Wednesday.

The primary focus of VARSH Foundation is the recovery and well-being of the young survivor. Princess Akor is currently receiving medical attention to treat her physical injuries and address the emotional scars left by this traumatic experience.

The Foundation emphasizes its unwavering support for the authorities in their pursuit of justice and accountability in this case.

Every child deserves a safe and nurturing environment, and the Foundation is determined to ensure that Princess Akor’s suffering does not go unanswered.

This heart-wrenching incident underscores the critical need for ongoing advocacy, awareness, and proactive measures to protect children from abuse.

VARSH Foundation reiterates its commitment to preventing child abuse and promoting child welfare. The organization calls on the public to remain vigilant and report any suspected cases of child abuse to the relevant authorities.
