President Bola Tinubu has left the United Kingdom for Paris, France, for an undisclosed “important engagement.”
Ibrahim Masari, the President’s Senior Special Assistant on Political and Other Matters, confirmed this via his verified X handle, @KabirIbrah64, on Friday. Masari stated, “Today, I had the privilege of visiting President Asiwaju Bola Tinubu GCFR at his private residence in the UK, where we had productive discussions. We then departed for Paris for another important engagement.”
No details were provided regarding the purpose of the Paris visit.
Tinubu had left Nigeria on Wednesday, October 2, for a two-week working vacation in the UK as part of his annual leave. His Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, revealed the trip in a statement titled “President Tinubu goes on annual leave,” explaining that Tinubu would use the period to reflect on his administration’s economic reforms.
France marks Tinubu’s 28th international destination since assuming office 17 months ago and his fourth visit to the country. His travel itinerary has included stops in Equatorial Guinea, London (four times), Guinea-Bissau (twice), Kenya, Benin Republic, South Africa, Ghana, India, the UAE, the U.S., Saudi Arabia (twice), Germany, Ethiopia, Senegal, and Qatar, among others.
