Tems wins Grammys as Burna Boy suffers loss

Tems, by the name Temilade Openiyi, Nigerian songstress has for the first time bagged a Grammys award, becoming the first Nigerian music female artist to reach the milestone.

The song ‘Wait for U’, a 2022 hit song in which she featured Future and Drake which was nominated under ‘Best Melodic Rap Performance’ category, won her the much-coveted award on Sunday night.

The Afrobeats singer was nominated in 4 categories.

The 2023 Grammy Awards ceremony is currently being held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, United States of America.

However, it was gathered that another Nigerian act, Burna Boy has suffered a huge loss as he has been beaten at the ‘Best Global Music Album’ and the ‘Best Global Music Performance’ categories he was nominated for.

Trevor Noah hosts the Grammys for the third year in a row, Ogunwatch learned.
