Supected man attacks 80-year old man with grinding stone, steals N12,700

In an incident that unfolded in the Agbado area of Ogun State, a man named Olamilekan Taiwo is alleged to have violently attacked octogenarian Reuben Olojede with a grinding stone. The disturbing attack occurred on Tuesday and left the elderly victim in a state of unconsciousness.

Reports from PUNCH Metro reveal that following the assault, the assailant callously made away with N12,700 stolen from the elderly man’s apartment. The victim’s son, Segun Olojede, who had just returned from work, made a distressing discovery when he found his father lying in a pool of his own blood. He quickly reported the horrifying incident at a nearby police station.

The community rallied in support, with sympathizers rushing the injured octogenarian to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention. Fortunately, Reuben Olojede regained consciousness and is now responding to treatment in the care of medical professionals.

Although the suspect, Olamilekan Taiwo, managed to escape from the scene, the Ogun State Police Command has confirmed his arrest. He was eventually apprehended in the Ogba-Ayo and Ijoko areas of the state through a joint effort involving the police and other security agencies.

Omolola Odutola, the State Police Public Relations Officer, provided updates on the case, stating, “The suspect has been arrested and will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Abeokuta for further investigation. He will be charged with attempted murder and robbery.” The stolen cash has also been recovered.
