Over 5,000 young individuals hailing from Anambra State’s 21 local government areas have received a substantial boost through the allocation of a N2 billion start-up fund, generously granted by Governor Chukwuma Soludo. This financial infusion came on the heels of the successful completion of the ‘one youth, two skills’ program initiated by the state government.
This remarkable endeavor marks the first wave of beneficiaries who, following their training, were presented with their cheques in Awka. Hon. Chuks Azotani, the representative of Dunukofia Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly and Chairman of the Information Technology and Creative Economy Committee, had encouraging words for the recipients. He emphasized the importance of prudently investing the start-up capital in their honed skills and business ventures to realize the program’s objectives.
Azotani lauded Governor Soludo for initiating this transformative program, which not only promises to combat unemployment and youth restiveness but also holds the potential to foster a new generation of self-sufficient entrepreneurs and job creators.
Azotani stated, “The positive impact of the ‘1 youth, 2 skills’ program initiated by the Soludo administration and facilitated by the State Ministry of Youth Development will have far-reaching economic implications, particularly in the fields of Information, Communication, and Technology. I urge the program’s beneficiaries to effectively apply the skills and knowledge they have acquired, and I implore them to judiciously invest their seed capital to become successful business owners and employers of labor in the state.”
The lawmaker expressed particular satisfaction that approximately 100 beneficiaries from the initial cohort hailed from Dunukofia local government area, assuring the youth in the region of more promising prospects to come. Azotani also extended his counsel to Nigerian youth in general, encouraging them to engage in meaningful ventures, especially in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
Furthermore, Azotani revealed that the Soludo administration has further plans to create platforms for socio-economic development in Anambra State and called on the people of Anambra to unite in support of the state government’s efforts to enhance the prosperity and livability of the region.
