Six die as bus rams into truck along Lagos-Ibadan expressway

No fewer than six persons were on Friday  confirmed dead, while three others injured an auto crash that occurred along Verony, Ogere, Lagos- Ibadan expressway.

Spokesman of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Ogun Sector Command, Florence Okpe, who confirmed the crash said it happened at about 7: 40 am.

She noted that the accident involved a Ash Toyota Sienna with registration number EPE692EL and an unidentified truck who was on motion and didn’t stop when the crash happened.

Okpe said : “The crash involved two vehicles a Ash Toyota Sienna with registration number EPE692EL and a truck that could not be identified as it was on motion when the crash happened and didn’t stop after the crash.

“ A total of 2 Male Adults, 7 Female Adults were involved in the crash. 2 Male Adults and 4 Female Adults were killed while 3 Female Adults were injured in the crash. 

She blamed the cause of the crash to excessive speed on the part of the Sienna space bus, who rammed into a moving truck from the rear.

Okpe noted that the injured victims were taken to Patmag Hospital, Ogere, and the corpses were deposited at FOS IPARA Morgue.

Meanwhile the Sector Commander,  Akinwumi Fasakin, described the crash as an avoidable act if proper caution was fully put in place by the driver. 

He urged motorists to ensure they give maximum concentration to driving and commiserated  with the families of the crash victim.
