The Peoples Democratic Party Mourns the Loss of National Woman Leader, Prof. Stella Effah-Attoe
It is with deep sorrow that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) announces the passing of one of its distinguished members, Prof. Stella Effah-Attoe, who held the position of National Woman Leader. Prof. Effah-Attoe was a devoted member of the PDP National Working Committee, and her family has informed us that she passed away on Sunday after a brief illness.
In a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Debo Ologunagba, the party expressed its profound sadness at the news of Effah-Attoe’s demise, describing it as a significant loss to the nation.
The statement reads, “Prof. Effah-Attoe was a brilliant and outstanding individual in various aspects of her life. Despite her towering achievements, she remained exceptionally humble, amiable, sociable, gracious, compassionate, and loving. She positively impacted the lives of many and made substantial contributions to the growth and development of our nation.
“She was a dedicated educator, politician, author, and a fearless advocate who consistently championed truth, justice, equity, and fairness. She invested her energy, passion, and resources in the pursuit of women’s rights in Nigeria.
“Throughout her career, she served as Commissioner for Education and later Commissioner for Information and Culture in Cross River State. She was a member of the Cross River State House of Assembly and various governing boards of state and federal agencies and programs. As a university professor and one of Nigeria’s most distinguished scholars, she showcased extraordinary intellectual leadership and commitment to national service.
“As the National Woman Leader of our great Party, she brought exceptional intellectual acumen to Party administration, particularly in mobilizing women for increased involvement in politics and governance.
“The PDP will always remember her tireless contributions, alongside other PDP leaders, in the endeavor to rebrand and strengthen our great Party in preparation for the 2023 general elections, as part of our mission to rescue, rebuild, and redirect our nation from misrule.”
Ologunagba acknowledged the significant void left by Effah-Attoe’s passing within the PDP. He further noted that the party finds solace in the knowledge that she led a devoted Christian life, excelled in her chosen path, and left an enduring legacy in the service of the Nation and humanity.
