Ogun School Sport : 18 Female players receives 2.7 million naira scholarship 

In order to improve academic performance, the founder Global Wealth University, based in Lome, Togo, has given all 18 female learners’ football teams from African Church Grammar School a scholarship worth N2.7 million.

This serves as compensation for winning the national first edition of the Nigeria secondary schools flag football tournament, dubbed “Aketi 2023”.

The scholarship agreement’s condition stipulate that recipients must have 5 credits in their 0’level results, complete a 4-year Bachelor of Science degree programme at the Global Wealth University in Togo, and that the scholarship must be used within 24 months of the recipients’ completion of their secondary schooling.

During the presentation of the scholarship documents sponsored by Prof. Imumolen in Abeokuta, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, praised the donor for his contribution to African human capital development.

Prof. Arigbabu highlighted that the generosity was in line with Prince Dapo Abiodun’s administration’s “Building Our Future Together” Agenda, and that the donation was an investment that would live on in the minds of the recipients.

He encouraged students to mix academics and athletics in order to have a well-balanced existence, adding that investing in information would help them better their abilities, occupations, and life pursuits, consequently upgrading their competence.

The special adviser thanked the management of African Church Grammar School for working persistently to better the lives of the students and for consistently ranking well in both academics and sports, and he praised the coaching staff for their expertise.

Mr. Lawrence Ojiade, general secretary of the Flag Football, who presented the documents on behalf of the donor, stated that Ogun State had proven to be a true champion in sports, acknowledging that if the learners can maintain the spirit of sportsmanship, especially in flag football, and balance sports with academics, they will be drafted into the American National Football League.

Earlier in his introductory remarks, the Southwest Chairman of the Nigeria School Sports Federation, who also serves as the Director of School Sports in Ogun State, stated that the Gold Medalists received a winning bonus of 750 thousand naira in addition to the scholarship.
