Ogun pensioners applauds Abiodun on payment of N2 billion gratuity

The Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Ogun state chapter, has expressed gratitude to governor Dapo Abiodun on the release of N2 billon to reduce backlog of accrued gratuities.

The union, in a statement signed by its secretary, comrade Bola Lawal and made available to OgunWatch, also thanked the governor, for the regular monthly payment of pensions as well as the extension of the N10,000 fuel subsidy palliatives which ended in March 2024.

Chairman of the union, Comrade Waheed Oloyede, noted that the gesture including the subsidized sales of rice confirms the sincerity of the humane nature of Abiodun.

“ All the above considerate gestures from our loving Governor is indicative of the reality that you are indeed a reliable Pensioner-friendly Governor, a father and comforter.

The union however, appealed for the release of the Consequential Increase in Pensions before the impending new wage increase.

“ Your Excellency, in furtherance to the major demands of the entire membership of the Nigeria Union Of Pensioners, Ogun State Council, we hereby make passionate appeal and request for the release of the much awaited Consequential Increase in Pensions before the impending new wage increase, this is intended to lift the vulnerable and very aged few out of the paltry earnings that can hardly feed an individual talk less of procurement of drugs to take care of multiple health challenges.

“ Finally, Your Excellency, we, Chairman, the Executive Council and the membership of the Nigeria Union Of Pensioners, Ogun State Council, express highly committed, dedicated and unflinching support to you and to your administration with the belief and trust that our aspirations will be favourably attended to in no distant time, so that we can also breathe some relative air of ease before we finally answer to the call of the Almighty.

“ May you be further endowed with the much required Solomon’s knowledge, wisdom, understanding and sound health to successfully and fruitfully steer the course of the ship of the Gateway State to enviable greater heights.

“ On a very final and joyful mood Your Excellency, may we use this opportunity to Heartily Congratulate you on the celebration of a *BRAND NEW AGE TODAY THE 29TH MAY.*

In the same vein, we are also wishing you a *HAPPY FIRST YEAR CELEBRATION IN OFFICE* at this your second tenure as the Executive Governor of our dear Ogun State.

“ May you live in good health and happiness to celebrate many, many more years in Jesus mighty name” the statement added.
