Ogun : Abiodun approves N1billion gratuity for immediate payment

The Ogun state governor, Dapo Abiodun, has directed the Bureau of State Pensions to begin paying gratuities to pensioners in the state immediately.

Ogunwatch gathered that the N1b gratuity was provided to help and comfort older citizens who had faithfully served the state and local government.

The Permanent Secretary of the Bureau, Mr. Adesoji Adewuyi, revealed this on Wednesday during a press conference with journalists held in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

He said the gratuity would cover pensioners whose payments were anticipated for September and a portion of October 2014, and he added that it would also cover the seniors’ partial Basic, Rent and Transportation (BRT) allowance payments for January and February 2013.

Mr. Adewuyi claimed that certain seniors with urgent medical requirements had also received assistance from the gratuity disbursed, and he begged with others who had not yet received theirs to have patience with the current administration while promising that all pensioners would be paid appropriately.

He also thanked governor Abiodun for providing pensioners with a cash palliative of N10,000 so they could manage the financial circumstances brought on by the elimination of the fuel subsidy for a period of three months beginning in July 2023.
