The Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) has officially announced its acquisition of the broadcasting rights for all 52 matches of the upcoming African Cup of Nations scheduled to take place in Ivory Coast from January 13 to February 11, 2024.
This move comes after the NTA signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Afro Sports, as revealed through a tweet on its official handle.
In the tweet, the NTA stated, “NTA signs Memorandum of Understanding with Afro Sports for transmission of 52 matches of Africa Cup Of Nations in Cote D’ivoire.” The announcement positions the NTA as the exclusive broadcaster for the prestigious football tournament, ensuring that football enthusiasts across Nigeria will have access to comprehensive coverage of the matches.
This development follows Multichoice’s recent disclosure that the African Cup of Nations would not be broadcasted on its platform. Multichoice, the parent company of DStv, clarified last Wednesday that it was unable to secure the broadcasting rights for the continent’s most significant footballing event on its SuperSport channels.
