Nigerians have taken to social media to voice their opinions on the latest leaked call recording allegedly involving controversial crossdresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky.
On Monday, Bobrisky found himself embroiled in yet another controversy after social media influencer Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, released what he claims is a fresh call recording. According to VeryDarkMan, the recording, dated May 16, 2024, is unrelated to a previous audio leak he shared.
In this newly released tape, Bobrisky allegedly made several statements, including a claim that he was not incarcerated but rather staying in a luxurious apartment near a prison. The recording also included other claims that quickly sparked widespread discussion across social media platforms.
Reactions to the leak have been varied, with many Nigerians expressing shock, skepticism, and disappointment. Some are questioning the authenticity of the recording, while others are scrutinizing Bobrisky’s previous claims about his legal troubles.
On X (formerly known as Twitter), users were quick to share their thoughts. One user, tweeting as #Oforma19, sarcastically remarked, “Just a little mistake and Bobrisky’s luck would have landed him in prison. Imagine Bobrisky with money laundering charges not ending up behind bars.”
Another user, #WillsMedia247, commented on the betrayal Bobrisky might be facing from his inner circle, tweeting, “It’s a pity that those he trusted are the same people betraying him. He thought he had friends, but instead, they turned out to be his worst enemies.”
fm57661959 posted, “Bobrisky will have to explain why he paid the EFCC to drop money laundering charges if his account was legitimate. He’s playing a dangerous game.”
Others, like #AdeyemiOladip14, were curious about how VeryDarkMan managed to obtain these recordings. He tweeted, “How is he getting all these call recordings? Were they planning to trap Bobrisky all along? Why does everyone seem to be recording their conversations with him?”
In contrast, some Nigerians expressed frustration with how the public was responding to the leaked audio, calling it a distraction from more serious issues. #WealthyWave04 tweeted, “How can people hear this level of corruption and still criticize the person who exposed it just because they don’t like Bobrisky? Tomorrow, these same people will claim they want a better Nigeria. With this attitude? It won’t happen.”
On Instagram, reactions were just as intense. User #real___barlow commented under VeryDarkMan’s post, “Bobrisky doesn’t seem to have any loyal friends. Who leaked this recording again?”
Another commenter, #okoruwamiracle, questioned why VeryDarkMan brought the audio to social media instead of seeking legal action. “If you have proof, take it to court. Why post it here for public judgment? Social media isn’t a courtroom.”
Meanwhile, #officialbhigshaq expressed frustration over the continued focus on Bobrisky, writing, “VDM should chill. Bobrisky might have gone to prison for a petty crime that 90% of Nigerians have committed. Why not focus on bigger issues, like the 2023 elections, instead of dragging Bobrisky?”
This latest audio leak follows an earlier incident in September when VeryDarkMan shared a different recording, alleging that Bobrisky had bribed officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) with N15 million to drop money laundering charges. That recording was reportedly given to VeryDarkMan by someone whom Bobrisky owed money.
Bobrisky, however, denied the bribery allegations, insisting that he served his jail term and that the viral recordings were fabricated. He maintained that claims suggesting he was never imprisoned were false and should be dismissed.
As the conversation continues online, the authenticity of the latest recording and Bobrisky’s claims remain the subjects of heated debate.
