Naira Marley claims defamation, seeks N500m from Iyabo Ojo

Nigerian artist Afeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, has initiated legal action against actress Iyabo Ojo, accusing her of spreading false and defamatory content on her Instagram account.

In a letter from Naira Marley’s lawyer, Olalekan Ojo, dated September 2023, the accusations revolve around a post where Ojo alleged Naira Marley’s involvement in spiritual and physical dealings with the late singer Mohbad (Ilerioluwa Aloba), referring to him as a brother.

The lawyer claims Ojo accused Naira Marley of causing mental harm to Mohbad. Seeking redress, Naira Marley’s attorney demands a public apology and N500 million in damages from Ojo. The apology is expected to be posted on Ojo’s official Instagram account and published in a national daily.

Failure to comply may result in a lawsuit against Ojo, as outlined in the lawyer’s letter, emphasizing the severe impact of the false accusations on Naira Marley’s reputation and well-being.
