The Lagos State Police Command granted the release of the renowned singer, Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, and Balogun Samson, alias Sam Larry, on Friday. The release came after both individuals successfully met the conditions set for their bail.
The announcement was conveyed by Benjamin Hundeyin, the Police Public Relations Officer for the state, in a succinct statement on Friday afternoon. Hundeyin, who holds the rank of Superintendent of Police, stated, “Naira Marley and Sammy Larry, having met their bail conditions, have been released.”
The duo’s freedom followed the fulfillment of their bail conditions, which were granted by a Lagos State Magistrates’ Court. The court, on Monday, November 6, set the bail amount at N20 million with three sureties considered responsible.
Among the stipulations for their bail, the court mandated that both Naira Marley and Sam Larry surrender their passports and make weekly appearances at the State Criminal Investigation Department. These measures are part of the court’s efforts to ensure the continued cooperation of the defendants in the ongoing investigation.
The arrests of Naira Marley and Sam Larry were linked to an investigation into the death of Mohbad, with videos depicting assaults against the late singer circulating online. The release of the duo now marks a pivotal development in the unfolding legal proceedings surrounding the case.
