Messi brings France to knee as Argentina clinch World Cup

Since 1986, when they beat West Germany, Argentina again returns to sit on the highest stool in the football world. In the fiercely contested battle, Argentina tumbled France’s back to the floor, to win the Qatar 2022 World Cup final match.

Messi and Dimaria had in a blitzkrieg attack deposited 2 surprise goals in the French’s net as early as the 36th minute of the game, forcing the French to contemplate an early armistice – but a resilient French army refused the repeat of history and decided to fight the foes to the end.

The French first made a stunning gain when Nicolas Otamendi conceded a spot-kick in the 80th minute, which penalty, determined Kylian Mbappe carefully dealt into the net. 2 minutes after, the 23-year-old heroically took his team back to equal ground plus buying extra time, when he converted a counter-attack strike into a goal – surprisingly dampening the Argentine’s bright hope of winning. Until then, the Albiceleste had appeared invincible and dominated the game with Di Maria and Messi leading the onslaught.

Shortly into the extra time, Messi turned fate in favor of Argentina again, following a 108th-hour goal, which he had delivered to make a double in the match. By the 118th hour, during the darkest hours of the French fans, scoring his second penalty, messiah Mbappe arose again to hang their hopes on balance.

Finally, in the deciding penalty shootout, the defending champion, France, succumbed in a 2 – 4 loss to their Argentinian adversary, and Messi for the first time clinched his most coveted Football trophy.

However, Lionel Messi appears to have ended any greatest of all-time debate by hoisting the World Cup trophy aloft as the captain of triumphant Argentina.

Messi had hinted before the showdown with France that Qatar’s 2022 World Cup final fixture would be his final appearance for Argentina.

Moreover, Having earned 172 caps and recorded 98 goals for his country, he bows out from international football with a perfect ending.

Meanwhile, Mbappe did not go home empty-handed, as a reward for his astonishing performance as he beats Lionel Messi to the Golden Boot after finishing the tournament with eight goals.

For Di Maria, it is not sure if the winger will still feature in the Argentine National team but it is sure that he has also received a reward for his over 120 caps.
