Mbappe ready for Bernabeu debut

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti expressed his confidence that striker Kylian Mbappe will have a “beautiful day” when he makes his much-anticipated home debut for the club in La Liga on Sunday. The Spanish giants will host Real Valladolid at the Santiago Bernabeu, marking their first home match of the season. Fans are eagerly awaiting the chance to see the French superstar in action on their home turf.

Mbappe, who recently joined Real Madrid after years of speculation linking him with the club, has already made an impact by scoring on his debut in the UEFA Super Cup victory against Atalanta in Warsaw. However, he was unable to find the back of the net in a 1-1 league draw against Mallorca. Despite this, Ancelotti is optimistic about Mbappe’s upcoming performance.

“I believe it will be a beautiful day for Mbappe, playing at the Bernabeu for the first time in a Real Madrid shirt,” Ancelotti said during a press conference on Friday. “The fans are very excited to see him, and I’m confident he will have a great game. With the quality he possesses, the supporters will surely enjoy themselves.”

Mbappe’s arrival at Real Madrid this summer, after his contract with Paris Saint-Germain ended, fulfilled a long-standing dream for the player. He now joins a formidable attacking lineup that includes Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo Goes, and Jude Bellingham. However, Ancelotti has noted that the team has struggled with balance in their first two matches of the season.

Ancelotti also mentioned that Bellingham had picked up a knock during training and was being assessed by the medical team ahead of the Valladolid match. Despite this setback, the coach is confident that the team has prepared well and addressed the issues they faced in the draw against Mallorca.

“We have prepared well for Sunday’s game and have worked on the areas where we struggled against Mallorca,” Ancelotti stated. “Facing Valladolid will be a good test for us. We lacked balance at times, but when the problem is clear, the solution is also clear.”

Ancelotti acknowledged that Vinicius, Mbappe, Rodrygo, and Bellingham all have a preference for playing from the left side of the pitch. However, he emphasized that he would not force them to switch positions, especially given the team’s recent successes playing from that side, including winning two Champions League titles.

With Mbappe now part of their squad, Real Madrid are strong favorites to once again dominate in La Liga this season, building on their Champions League and La Liga double achieved under Ancelotti in 2022. The addition of the French striker is expected to further bolster their chances of continued success in both domestic and European competitions.
