MAPOLY former deputy rector, Lekan Famuyiwa dies at 72

A former deputy rector at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic in Abeokuta, Lekan Sakibu Famuyiwa, popularly known as Baba Fancy is dead.

Baba Fancy, age 72, was said to have died on Friday afternoon in his home in Abeokuta.

According to a family source, the deceased was lively yesterday afternoon after lunch and continued to be active on his social media account (WhatsApp) well after midday.

He was the institution’s Director of Student’s Affairs before rising to the Deputy Rectorship.

Known for his discipline, the late statistician lectured at the Department of Accountancy before calling it quits in the year 2020.

On his retirement day

He served as the previous Head of the General Studies Department at MAPOLY, as Director of the School of Communication and Information Technology, and as the founding Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic (ASUP) Ogun Poly, which is now a chapter of MAPOLY.
