The Kwara State Police Command has apprehended 14 individuals for alleged involvement in criminal activities including conspiracy, armed robbery, cultism, and culpable homicide.
The newly appointed State Commissioner of Police, Victor Olaiya, disclosed that the suspects were paraded in Ilorin, with the recovery of firearms and other dangerous weapons from them. During interrogation, the suspects also revealed information about three accomplices who are currently at large.
Additionally, on October 15, 2023, three individuals were arrested at a police checkpoint on the Eiyenkorin/Ogbomoso highway while in transit via a commercial vehicle from Ibadan.
Furthermore, Olaiya reported the arrest of notorious armed robbery suspects, Jamiu Idowu Aje and Shittu Sherrif, also known as Abule. They were apprehended for alleged criminal conspiracy, illegal possession of firearms, and affiliation with a secret cult. The suspects confessed to their involvement in a series of armed robberies during questioning.
In another case of cultism, three suspects were arrested in October this year, and a locally-made single-barrel gun was seized.
